CHARLESTON, W.Va. – University of Charleston Baseball made their home debut Saturday afternoon at Triana Field, splitting a doubleheader with visiting Kentucky State University.

Game 1
-After a scoreless 1
st, Kentucky State plated a run in the 2
nd to take a 1-0 lead
-The Thorobreds continued to add to their lead, taking advantage of 3 Golden Eagle errors that gave KSU a 4-0 advantage into the 6
th inning.
-Charleston struggled at the dish all game but finally got something going in the 6
th, scoring two runs behind a Jeff Somuk double and a Steven Davis groundout that each scored one to cut the lead in half, 4-2.
-KSU's Josh Dunn worked into the 7
th and looked to run into trouble for the second straight inning after giving up a lead-off walk to Taylor Itnyre, but was able to snare a Derek Dudek line drive and double off Itnyre at first. Dunn closed out the out the game for the complete game win for the Thorobreds, 4-2.
-Charleston had as many errors as hits in game 1, three of each.
Game 2
-The teams combined for 23 runs on 27 hits, an offensive explosion considering the lack of offense in game 1.
-KSU scored a run in the top of the 1
st but the Golden Eagles responded with 6 of their own while knocking out starter Matthew Oxford after working just 1/3 of an inning.
-UC continued to add runs, but the Thorobreds wouldn't go away trimming the Golden Eagle lead to 10-7 heading into the bottom half of the 6
th. Charleston had the answer, coming up with another 6-run inning behind a pair of 2-run hits from Brice Arrington and Gianfranco Morello.
The Golden Eagles shut down KSU in the 7
th to take game 2, 16-7
CHARLESTON INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
-Kaleb Kinder worked 5 innings in the win for Charleston, giving up 5 runs on 12 hits.
-Taylor Itnyre went 5-for-8 on the afternoon, scoring 3 runs while driving in 1.
-Four Golden Eagles drove in 2 runs in UC's 16-7 win, highlighted by Jack Brunetti's first career HR.
MILLERSVILLE INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
-Josh Dunn got the complete game win for the Thorobreds in game 1, giving up just 1 earned run on 3 hits.
-Jay Poullard went 4-for-4 in game 2, scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
-Greg Alexander was 5-for-8 at the plate, scoring 3 runs.
