Charleston Picks Up Fourth Straight Win in Men's Volleyball

LAURINBURG, N.C. --

The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (7-3, 0-1 EIVA) earned a pair of wins Saturday to take their consecutive win streak to four matches, defeating Cincinnati Christian and St. Andrews in straights sets

Game Leaders
-Ryan Santos totaled 27 kills in six sets for the Golden Eagles, hitting above. .350 between the two victories.
-Sophomore middle blocker Eugene Stuart put together his best performance of the season in the win over St. Andrews, setting a season-high mark with 11 kills and hitting at .588.  He also added 5 total blocks in the wins.
-Anthony Rivera assisted on 58 put-aways for the Golden Eagles.
-Byron Hurd was UC's leader on defense, totaling 15 digs over the two-match span.

How it Happened
-Charleston jumped all over Cincinnati Christian from the outset, cruising to the first set win over Eagles.  The Eagles came into Saturday's match with a perfect 6-0 record before losing to UC.
-UC held a narrow 9-8 advantage of CCU in the second before Rajahl Moxey reeled off seven consecutive points led by the blocking tandem of Eugene Stuart and Anthony Rivera.
-UC, leading 24-21 in the third, couldn't take advantage of three set points which forced the match to go to extra points, but UC regrouped and took the set 26-24.
-Three of Charleston's seven wins on the season have come against St. Andrews University, outscoring the Knights nine sets to one.
-The Golden Eagles used mid set runs in each of the sets to claim the straight set victories, often falling behind early on before settling in and hitting at an efficient rate.  Charleston as a team hit at .286 compared to the Knights dismal .011 effort.
