Golden Eagles Fight Past Early Falcon Lead To 71-61 Victory

CHARLESTON, WV -- The University of Charleston Men's Basketball Team (13-9, 7-9 MEC) fight through an early Notre Dame College   (15-7, 9-6 MEC) lead to win 71-61 on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kyauta Taylor of Notre Dame College started the night off with 3 straight three-pointers, but the golden eagles kept themselves in the game with 2 straight buckets from Junior Keir Anderson with in the 16 minute mark. Charleston brought the falcon lead to just 2 points at 14:57 with a jumper from Justin Coleman.
-Notre Dame College answered with 3 more mid-half threes increasing their lead to 13 points. This was the highest margin the the falcons would lead for the rest of the game. Charleston went to the locker room trailing 35-30. 
- The golden eagles came out swinging after the break. Keir Anderson would give the golden eagles the 36-35 lead at 19:03 after 2 straight threes. Notre Dame tied the game up again at 16:04 with a pair of free throws by Ja'Sean Lewis. 
- The falcons kept the score within single digits until  Anderson knocked down a late three to put the eagles up 66-56. A pair of free throws by Will Vorhees of Notre Dame brought the golden eagles lead within 8. 
- Justin Coleman threw down after a dish from Jonathan Joseph at 2:30 to put the golden eagles back up by 10. Drew Scarberry would hit a late three to cut the lead back to 7, but late fouls and a layup with 57 seconds to go would put Charleston back up 71-61 in the final minute. 

CHARLESTON INDIVIDUAL LEADERS 
- Junior guard Keir Anderson lead the golden eagles with 25 points and 9 rebounds. 
- Jaylen Hinton and Justin Coleman combined for 13 in the win, Justin Coleman also led Charleston with 10 rebounds.
 

NOTRE DAME (OH) INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
-Ja'Sean Lewis led the falcons with 17 points, 8 boards, and 2 steals.
- Drew Scarberry and Kyauta Taylor each had 15 points and led the falcons with 9 rebounds.  

UP NEXT
- The University of Charleston will take on West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, West Virginia Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
