Golden Eagles Earn Fourth Straight Win On the Road

CHARLESTON, WV -- The University of Charleston Men's Basketball Team (14-9, 8-9 MEC) earns fourth straight win against West Virginia Wesleyan College (11-12, 8-9 MEC) 73-64 Wednesday night on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Keir Anderson got the scoring started with a three ball forty seconds into the game. The score would teeter back and fourth through the start of the first half. Neither team led by more than a score. Following the first media timeout Luke Layhew of West Virginia Wesleyan tied the game up for a third time to bring the score to 14 all. Mo Berchie the bobcats score leader knocked down a three at he 10:34 mark to put WVWC up by 3. 
-The home team led most of the half until Justin Coleman knocked down 2 free throws to tie the game up at 25. The home team took back the lead just before the clock hit 2 minutes and held the lead til the buzzer. The teams went into the break with the bobcats leading 31-29.
-LeJavius Johnson wasted no time at the start of the second half tying the game up for a fifth time with a quick layup at 19:49. The golden eagles took off on a 7-0 run that ended with a jumper by the bobcat's Fred Brondsted to give the eagles a 36-33 lead.  UC's Jaylen Hinton answered with a three during the next possession.
-The bobcats tied the game up for the eighth and final time at 7:10. with a pair of free throws by Mo Berchie.  The home team took the 56-54 lead following a missed three-pointer by Johnson, but the golden eagles took over once again after a jumper by Coleman at 4:08. Charleston went on a 15-0 run to grasp the 12-point lead with 31 seconds to go. Charleston went to the locker room topping West Virginia Wesleyan 73-64 and their fourth straight win. 
  
CHARLESTON INDIVIDUAL LEADERS 
-Keir Anderson led the scoring with 19 points for the golden eagles.
-Senior forward, Justin Coleman knocked down 16 points and pulled down 13 boards.
-Letavious Johnson scored 12 points and tallied 2 steals in the win.  

BOBCAT INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
-Mo Berchie led West Virginia Wesleyan with 16 points. 
-Kevin Kangi tallied 12 in the loss. Luke Layhew scored 10 and they each brought down 5 rebounds. 

THE NUMBERS
-The score was tied 8 times with 10 lead changes.
-Charleston shot 46.4 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc. 
-UC knocked down 17 of 26 from the free-throw line.

-The University of Charleston will take on Glenville State College on Saturday, February 11 ath 4:00 p.m.
