Women's Lacrosse Picks Up Second Win Against Walsh on Saturday

CHARLESTON, W.Va.—Charleston Women's Lacrosse team (2-6) notched their second win of the season, topping Walsh University (3-3) on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS
SCORE -  Charleston 12; Walsh 8
LOCATION – North Canton, Ohio.
RECORDS - Charleston (2-6, 0-0 MEC); Cavaliers (3-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED 
-Megan Sheelsey put the first ball away for the Golden Eagles five minutes into the first half. Three minutes later Samantha Jones put the second goal away for Charleston. Sheesley picked up her first assist. With 4:30 left on the clock Jones sent her second goal of the day to the back of the net bringing the score to 3-0 UC.
-Just one minute after Jones put away her second goal Sophomore Peyton Harris banged one more in for Charleston (4-0).
-Walsh put away their first goal with just over a minute to play in the first with a goal by Lane Brunkala. With 43 seconds to go in the half Sheesley put away her second of the game and number 5 for UC (5-1). The first half concluded with UC up 5-1 on the Cavaliers.
-Following the break Walsh came out swinging scorings first with Brunkala's second goal of the game (5-2). The Cavaliers scored two more unanswered goals to bring the score to 5-4.
-At 19:15 Emma Renda scored her first goal of the game to give UC the 2-goal lead. Less than a minute later Aryanna Jones banks her second goal of the game. Aryanna Jones scored for the third time of the day at 14:50 to increase the UC lead by 4. Walsh answered on the next possession, but Charleston's Emma Renda scored her second goal of the day with just over 12 minutes to go (9-5).
-Megan Sheesley gave UC the 10-5 lead with 11:17 go to. Jones put her fourth goal away with less than 9 minutes to play bringing the score to 11-5. The Cavaliers scored back-to-back goals to cut the UC lead to 4 goals. UC would seal the deal with 5 minutes to go bringing the score to 12-7. With just over three minutes to go in regulation Walsh scored goal number eight.
-Time expired with Charleston up 12-8 giving the Golden Eagles their second win of the season.

CHARLESTON LEADERS
-Aryanna Jones led the Golden Eagles tabbing 4 goals.
-Megan Sheesley scored 3 times for Charleston also notching 1 assist in the win.

BULLDOG LEADERS
-Maria Nobile scored 3 goals to lead the Cavaliers.
-Lane Brunkala and Emma Armour each scored twice for Walsh.


UP NEXT 
-The Golden Eagles will return to Schoenbaum Stadium on Wednesday for a 3:00 p.m. face off against Davis & Elkins.
