CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles rallied from a 7-run deficit to earn a 14-11 win over University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown at Triana Field on Saturday afternoon to open the 3-game series with the Mountain Cats.

Game 1
-After a scoreless 1
st, Pitt Johnstown erupted for 6 runs in the 2
nd knocking out Charleston starter Kaleb Kinder after 1 2/3 innings of work.
-UC chipped away at the lead in the bottom half of the inning, getting 2 runs back on a Jack Brunetti double down the left field line to make it 6-2.
-Trailing 9-2 entering the bottom of the third, the UC offense hung 10 runs over the 3
rd and 4
th innings to take their first lead of the game at 12-9 going to the 5
th inning.
-UPJ cut into Charleston's 3-run lead in the 5
th on Luke Williams' 2-run HR to left center, to trim UC's lead to 12-11 after 5 innings played.
-Enter Robert Fultineer who absolutely shut down the hard hitting Mountain Cats, securing a 14-11 win for UC by working 4 scoreless innings and getting a couple of insurance runs from the Golden Eagle bats to take game 1 of the 3-game series.
CHARLESTON INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
-Sophomore third baseman Jack Brunetti was 2-for-3 on the afternoon with 2 doubles while driving in a career-high 4 RBI's.
-Gianfranco Morello went 2-for-4, scored 2 runs and knocked in a pair and leads the Golden Eagles with 9 RBI's on the season.
-Freshman reliever Robert Fultineer worked 4 scoreless innings for his 2
nd save on the season. Fultineer allowed just 1 hit and struck out 3 in the appearance.
PITT JOHNSTOWN INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
-Dylan Kerstetter was 3-for-5 at the plate, scoring 3 runs and driving in 3 on the afternoon.
-Luke Williams drove in 3 Mountain Cats on the day, including a 2-run HR on his 3-hit performance.
-Ty Treaster was the Mountain Cats' top pitcher, working 3 1/3 innings in relief allowing just 1 run while striking out 5 Golden Eagles.
