CHARLESTON, W.Va. – University of Charleston picked up their first win of the 2017 season Saturday afternoon at Erskine College, defeating the Fighting Fleet 17-3.

Game Leaders
-Aryanna Jones and Samantha Jones each scored 4 goals for the Golden Eagles.
-Sophomore midfielder Peyton Harris scored 2 goals and led all players with 7 draw controls.
-Freshman goalkeeper Rachel Cokeley earned her first win in the net, playing all 60 minutes between the pipes while making 3 saves.
-Erskine's goalkeeper Sara Castro tallied 5 saves, taking the loss for the Flying Fleet.
-Charleston's victory was Coach Elizabeth Gainer's first program win and just the second in UC's 2-year history.

How it Happened
-Charleston dominated play from the get go, outscoring the Fighting Fleet 8-0 in the first 30 minutes of action.  All 4. of A. Jones's goals came in the first half.
-Erskine was first to score to open the second half and actually matched UC in goals in the first 10 minutes of the half, with the score showing 10-2.
-The Golden Eagles, leading 12-3, with 11:34 left on the clock outscored the Fleet 5-0  highlighted by a pair of Samantha Jones goals to defeat Erskine 17-3 for the team's first win.
