Golden Eagles Fall at Home on Saturday

CHARLESTON, WV.—Charleston Women's Lacrosse team (3-10, 0-3 MEC) lost in their conference matchup against West Virginia Wesleyan (3-9, 2-1 MEC) on Saturday morning.

THE BASICS
SCORE -  West Virginia Wesleyan 16; Charleston 11
LOCATION – Charleston, WV.
RECORDS - Charleston (3-10, 0-3 MEC); Bobcats (3-9, 2-1 MEC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Bobcats came out swinging scoring 4 unanswered goals to start the half before Aryanna Jones got the Golden Eagles on the board with a goal at 20:58 to bring the score to 4-1.
-On the next possession the Bobcats brought the score to 5-1.
-The Golden Eagles cut the Bobcat lead to just two goals after scoring back-to-back goals with just over 18 minutes to go in the half.
-Wesleyan scored three more unanswered goals bringing the score to 8-3 before the Charleston answered with three goals of their own (9-6). Natalie Schaeffner scored one more goal for the bobcats before time expired in the first half.
-The two teams went into the break with Wesleyan leading Charleston 9-6.
-Less than two minutes into the second half Schaeffner scored again for the Bobcats, but Aryanna Jones and Rachel Kerwin brought the Golden Eagles within two goals after scoring two unanswered goals for UC (10-8).
-Wesleyan put three more goals away to bring the score to 13-8 when Samantha Jones scored for the Golden Eagles with just over 11 minutes to go.
-Senior, Nicole Purcell scored with 7 minutes to go to bring UC within 3, but the Bobcats would maintain their lead and take the victory 16-11 over the Golden Eagles.  

CHARLESTON LEADERS
-Aryanna Jones led the Golden Eagles with 3 goals while Peyton Harris claimed 2.
 
BOBCAT LEADERS
-Natalie Schaffner led Wesleyan with 5 goals.

UP NEXT 
-Charleston will host Wheeling Jesuit on April 28 at 5:00 p.m.
