THE GAME
Both pitching staffs didn't come up with their best efforts on the day, combining for 19 walks and five hit batters but it was Lake Erie who took advantage of those free bases when it mattered.  Charleston held an 8-4 lead heading into the 6th inning after Lee Carneal plated a pair of Golden Eagles on a single through the left side with UC looking to take command of the nine-inning affair.

The Storm responded with a five-run 6th inning off Charleston reliever Jacob Kaiser to take a 9-8 lead over UC, but the Golden Eagles answered back with a pair of runs driven in by an Austin Hathaway single to right center to put Charleston back on top 10-8 after six innings.  After a scoreless 7th, Lake Erie came up with a 2-out RBI by Nigel Williams to even the game at 10-10 going into the 9th inning.

Charleston again ran into trouble in the 9th, as the Storm loaded the bases and plated three runs to take a 13-10 advantage into the final half inning.  UC looked to tie the game on a deep drive by Steven Davis with two runners on but Lake Erie's Reese Rua made a catch at the fence to hand Charleston the loss.
