CHARLESTON, WV.—Charleston Women's Lacrosse team (3-9, 0-2 MEC) came up short in their second conference game on Sunday against Shepherd University (2-9, 1-0 MEC).

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Courtney Schwiegerath got the Rams on the board first just 8 minutes into the first half. The Rams scored three more unanswered goals before UC's Samantha Jones put one past the Shepherd goalie (4-1).
-Lillian Funke, Courtney Matthews and Brooke Hunley all scored for the Rams bringing the score to 7-1 with just over seven minutes to go in the first half.
-With five minutes to go in the first half Nicole Purcell scored for the Golden Eagles bringing the score to 7-2 before the break.
-Less than two minutes into the second half, Shawna Kleinfelter cut the Ram lead to 4 goals when she scored for the Golden Eagles. Aryanna Jones scored 20 seconds later (7-4). Samantha Jones put her second goal of the day away less than a minute after her teammate cutting the Shepherd lead to 7-5.
-The Rams scored back to back goals bringing the score to 9-5, but Shawna Kleinfelter would score back-to-back goals herself for the Golden Eagles (9-7).
-Shepherd scored three more times before the clock expired defeating the Golden Eagles 12-7.
CHARLESTON LEADERS
-Shawna Kleinfelter scored 3 times for the Golden Eagles, while Samantha Jones snagged 2.
UVA-WISE LEADERS
-Haley Price put the ball past the UC goalie 7 times in the win.
