CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston men's tennis rallied back from a 2-1 deficit to sweep all six singles courts on their way to a 7-2 win over the No. 8 Atlantic Region ranked Shaw University Bears.
After dropping two of three doubles courts, Charleston ran the table against the visiting Bears in singles for the win. Elliot Le Petit evened the match at 2-2 winning at No. 6 singles then Dominic Centofanti gave UC the lead with a straight set win at No. 5 singles. Alek Gracin put Charleston in the position of needing just one more court to clinch the match after gutting out a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 3 singles. Jamie Gibson provided the match winner at No. 5 singles after holding off a comeback from his opponent, 6-3, 6-4.
Charleston went on to sweep all of the singles courts behind wins from Ben Lakeman at No. 2 and a three-set thriller by Alec Foote at No. 1 singles.
UC returns to Mountain East play on Tuesday for their final home match of the season, hosting Concord University at 4:00 p.m. at the Bolarksy Tennis Center in Coonskin Park.
