The Golden Eagles are heading to the Mountain East Conference Tournament in Salem, VA. Charleston was tabbed the No. 3 seed in the south division with a record of 34-17, 22-10 in the MEC. The Golden Eagles will kick off the conference tournament with a 12:00 p.m. game against Wheeling Jesuit on Friday, May 5.
 
The field for the 2017 Mountain East Conference Softball Tournament is set after the conclusion of the regular season earlier today. 
Eight teams from the league (four from the North Division and four from the South Division) advance to compete at the tournament held this year at the James I. Moyer Complex. Play begins this Friday, May 5, at noon. 
West Virginia Wesleyan is the defending MEC Tournament champion. The MEC Tournament field features five teams in the NCAA Atlantic Region rankings (all four teams in the South Division and Shepherd from the North). 
The Bobcats, ranked 10th in the country, are the South Division champion and the No. 1 seed from that division with a record of 26-4 in conference play. UVa-Wise (22-8) is the No. 2 seed in the South, followed by Charleston (22-10) and Concord (17-13).
Shepherd is the North Division champion for the second-straight year and is that division's No. 1 seed after going 21-11. Wheeling Jesuit (17-15) is No. 2 in the North Division, Notre Dame is No. 3 (13-19) and Urbana is No. 4 (12-20).
