THE GAME

Adam Jafine tossed his second complete-game shutout in as many games, going all nine innings for the Golden Eagles and recording a season-high nine strikeouts.  The Mountain Lions entered the game as one of the most explosive offensive teams in the Mountain East but was shut down by the junior left-hander.  Jafine has yet to allow a run in his last 16 innings of work for the University of Charleston, moving his record to 8-5 on the season.

Junior catcher Steven Davis had one of his best performances as a Golden Eagle, tying a career-high in RBI's in a single game with four driven in on the afternoon.  Davis had a 2-RBI single in the 4th inning that doubled UC's lead over Concord to 4-0, then sealed the Mountain Lion fate with a crushing 2-run HR to left field that put Charleston on top 7-0 going to the final two innings.

UC took advantage of four Concord miscues in the field, leading to three Golden Eagle unearned runs off Mt. Lion starter Nate Werner.  Charleston continues to add to their record-setting season with their 31st victory of the season, looking to pick up win No. 32 tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. with opponent yet to be determined.
