CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston women's volleyball opened their 2017 MEC schedule Friday evening at the Russell and Martha Wehrle Innovation Center, sweeping the Concord Mountain Lions in straight sets to earn their fifth win of the season.

University of Charleston had arguably their best offensive match of the season, hitting well over .200 in the three-set sweep of Concord, led by freshman
Jessica Sunnenberg (Lexington, Ky.) (11 kill, 21 attempts, .524 hitting %). The Golden Eagles spread their attack around as
Carly Granger (Fenton, MI) joined Sunnenberg with 11 kills, followed by
Tori Clark (Lakeland, FL) (9 kills) and both
Jour'Ney Powell (Tomball, TX) and
Janeese VerVelde (Oostburg, WI) finished with eight kills.
Chloe Massaro (Naples, FL) paced UC with 28 assists while libero
Kelsey Matusic (Winfield, WV) came up with 26 digs from her defensive position. Charleston came into Friday's match losing five of their last six but how have won their last pair of matches heading into Saturday's battle with UVa.-Wise.
