DANIELS, W.Va. – University of Charleston men's golf opened their 2017-18 campaign by capturing the rain shortened Glade Springs Intercollegiate by 14 strokes over runner-up finisher Davis & Elkins College.
Charleston scored rounds of 299 and 292 on Monday at The Resort at Glade Springs, playing on both the Stonehaven and Cobb Courses. UC senior
Justin Westveer was the tournament medalist, turning in consecutive rounds of 69 to cruise to a 7-shot victory over the field. Fellow senior
Lewis Fenn also started the season strong with a top-5 finish, playing 4-over through two rounds.
Ritwik Jain finished just outside of the top-10 in 11
th, posting rounds of 79 and 72 for 7-over.
UC gets back on the course on September 17, heading to Charlotte, N.C. to play in the Queens Invitational hosted by Queens University of Charlotte.
