NASHVILLE – Charleston Men's Volleyball opened their 2018 schedule at the inaugural Grow the Game Challenge with a four-set victory over Limestone College at Lipscomb University's Allen Arena on Friday morning.

How it Happened
 
SET 1
UC struggled out of the gates versus the Saints, hitting at .023 for the first game but somehow managed to keep things close until midway through the set when the Golden Eagle errors finally caught up to them.  Limestone went on to take the opening set, 25-20 over Charleston.
 
SET 2
The Golden Eagles upped their level on the attack in the second set to hit at .160 while the Charleston defense controlled the net, forcing the Saints to hit negative for the game and accumulating five blocks in the process.  Three of the five blocks came from Brandon Greenway, finishing with six for the match.  UC distanced themselves from the Saints with the match tied at 10-10, scoring 15 of the games next 25 points to take the set 25-20 and even the match at 1-1.
 
SET 3
Both teams were on their game in the decisive third set, as the Golden Eagles and Saints each were efficient in their attack.  The game flip flopped back and forth for much of the set until being tied at 22-22.  Successive kills by Eugene Stuart and Ryan Santos gave UC set point at 24-22, before closing out the match on service error by the Saints to put UC ahead 2-1 going to the fourth game.
 
SET 4
Charleston fell behind early in the fourth as Limestone jumped out to a 4-0 lead on the Golden Eagles.  UC would quickly respond, going on a 5-0 run fueled by four consecutive attack errors by the Saints to take an 8-7 lead. Tied at 14-14 later in the set, Charleston surged to score 11 of the match's next 15 points and cruised to the set win and secure the match 3-1.
