CHARLESTON, WV. – The Golden Eagles (10-8, 6-6 MEC) fell to West Virginia State (10-7, 8-4) on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles now sit at 10-8 on the season and .500 in conference play.

How it Happened
The West Virginia State Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early lead and held on, leading by no more than 10 points, but Charleston bridged the gap with just over five minutes to play in the first half tying it up 28-28. The Golden Eagles took their first lead of the game with a layup by Jordan Smith. Charleston went into the break leading the Yellow Jackets 39-25. 

The Golden Eagles came out of the break and maintained their lead over West Virginia State. After eight minutes of play the Yellow Jackets took back the lead 55-53. State held on by a small margin but the Golden Eagles would lead 72-70 with just under six minutes to go. 

With the score tied 70-70 and just over one minute to play West Virginia State took the lead and held on to defeat the Golden Eagles 83-82. 

Charleston Individual Leaders
-Keir Anderson led the Golden Eagles with 15 points while Ke'Andre Gibson and Shaq Speights each tallied 14 in the loss. 

Yellow Jacket Individual Leaders
-Glen Abram led State with 16 points.
-Jahlen Greene tallied 15 points and six rebound for the Yellow Jackets.

-The Golden Eagles will travel to Urbana, Ohio on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against the Blue Knights.
