CHARLESTON, WV. – The Golden Eagles (11-8, 7-6 MEC) took the game from the Urbana Blue Knights (3-15, 2-11 MEC) after a last second foul sent the Golden Eagles to the free throw line.

How it Happened
Charleston jumped ahead in the first half shooting 40 percent from the field to head into the locker room leading the Blue Knights by six points. The Golden Eagles were led in the first half by Austin Howard and Jordan Smith who combined for 13 points. The Blue Knights were led by Roy Hatchet who tallied 10 points for the Blue Knights.
With the start of the second half the Blue Knights climbed back into the game to take their first lead with a free throw by Hatchet. Urbana held onto the lead through the second half, but the Golden Eagles regained their lead with four minutes to play after a jumper by Lamont McManus.
The two teams exchanged the lead 5 times before time would expire. Down two points, with .02 seconds to play, Keir Anderson attempted the last second three pointer to win the game for Charleston, but fell short. The referees signaled a foul on the three point attempt sending Anderson to the line with no time on the clock. Anderson sunk all three free throw attempts to give the Golden Eagles the one-point victory.
Charleston Individual Leaders
Austin Howard led the Golden Eagles shooting 55 percent from the field for 13 points, while seniors Keir Anderson and Jordan Smith each tallied 10 points for the Golden Eagles.
Blue Knights Individual Leaders
Roy Hatchet led the Blue Knights with 15 points in the loss.
