How it Happened
After two lead changes the Golden Eagles posted a 15-11 lead midway through the first half. The Falcons kept the game close taking their lead back with 54 seconds to play with a three-ball by Jason Jolly. The two teams went into the break with the Falcons up 34-31 on the Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles were led by Drew Rackley with 10 points in the first. The guard went 3-for-4 from behind the arc, and 1-for-2 from the charity stripe for UC. Jason Jolly lead all players with 19 first half points.
Coming out of the gate in the second half, the Golden Eagles tied the game up, and took the lead with back-to-back three pointers from Rackley and Robinson, but Vonte Mongomery answered to tie the game back up on the next possession. UC regained the lead without letting up until the three-minute mark in regulation when the Falcons tied it up 63-63. With seven seconds remaining in regulation the Falcons took the 67-65 lead, but sophomore point guard Seth O'Neal hit a baseline jumper at the buzzer to send the contest into overtime.
After leading for most of the first overtime period the Golden eagles boasted an 83-80 lead with one second left. The Falcons had possession and in a last second three-point attempt, Cole Vonhandorf was fouled by UC's Devon Robinson. Vonahndorf sunk all three free throws to send the game into a second overtime period.
With 1:53 to play in the second overtime, Jason Jolly hit a layup to give the Falcons a two-point lead over UC. The Falcons would not give up their lead through the remainder of the period, taking the 99-96 victory over Charleston.
