Charleston Falls to Rams 101-93

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles fell to the Shepherd Rams on Monday night moving to 3-2 on the season. The Golden Eagles were led by Drew Rackley, who tallied 47 points, the sixth most in a game by a Golden Eagle.

How it Happened
The Golden Eagles came out hot, taking a 11-0 lead to start the first half, but the Rams clawed their way back into the game, led by Thomas Lang with 10 points to tie the game up 26-26. The Golden Eagles shot 46 percent from the field in the first half but were outscored 26-15 for 8 minutes of the half. Charleston gained the lead back, but with two minutes to go Derek McKnight hit a pair of free throws for a 30-30 tie. The Rams went on an 8-1 run to close the half. The Golden Eagles went into the break down 38-31, led by Drew Rackley and Seth O'Neal each with 11 points.
 
Charleston was never able to come back in the second half. Shepherd maintained the lead, leading by as many as many as 15. Winston Burgess led the Rams in the second half with 24 points as they outscored the Golden Eagles by a mere point. Drew Rackley led UC with 36 points.
 
The Golden Eagles tallied 19 points off turnovers, and 14 second chance points to the Rams four. Shepherd outscored the Golden Eagles in the paint 44-34.
