Golden Eagles Top Bowie St. 89-75 in Season Opener

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Men's Basketball team (1-0) downed Bowie University (0-1) on Saturday, defeating the Bulldogs 89-75.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles started off strong in the first half of play, leading the Bulldogs for the full 20 minutes of play. Charleston's junior forward Devon Robinson led the Golden Eagles in the first half, totaling 19 points. The Golden Eagles were 17-30 on their field goals, 5-9 on the three-point line, and 10-14 on their free throws in the first half of the game. The Golden Eagles worked to push past Bowie heading into the half, leading the Bulldogs 49-37.
 
The second half of play was a similar story for Charleston as they used their momentum to overtake the visiting Bowie State. Charleston improved on their field goals from the first half, going 15-23 in the second half. The visiting Bulldogs had less success, going 13-24 in the last 20 minutes of play. Charleston's junior guard Drew Rackley gave UC eight points in the second half, helping the team in their 89-75 win on the day.
