CHARLESTON, W.Va. – UC men's tennis defeated the Salem Tigers in their second match of the season with an 8-1 win at the Charleston Tennis Club on Friday evening, moving to a 2-0 record overall.
The early part of the match against the Salem Tigers looked tough for Charleston. Salem jumped out to quick leads at both first and third doubles. The pair of Lakeman and Tayar came to back to win 8-4. Berry and Andrews were not so fortunate and and lost 8-6. Tom Andrews playing 4th singles won quickly with a score of 6-0, 6-1. Gracin and Lakeman were the next winners for The Golden Eagles clinching the match for Charleston. Elliot LePetit earned the 6th point for Charleston with a hard fought second set tie breaker resulting in at final score of 6-3, 7-6. Prince and Tayar closed out the match with win to make the final score 8-1.
Charleston will face Cedarville University Saturday, February 24 in Cedarville, Ohio.
