CHARLESTON, W.Va. – UC men's tennis chalked up yet another win as they beat Cedarville University 9-0 in their first match on the road of the 2018 season.
Charleston gained the first two doubles points in a quick fashion with wins by Lakeman and Tayar at first double and Andrews and berry at third doubles. The second pair of Gracin and Prince held serve eight games in a row but couldn't break Cedarville's serve until the 16h game of the match when they were finally able to get a break of serve and win the match 9-7.
In singles, Tayar, Gracin and Prince all made quick work of their opponents to give Charleston a 6-0 Lead. LePetit won the next match at 5 singles in a third set super breaker, and in route to his 6-3,5-7,11-9 win he saved two match points. Andrews was next to win. Like Lepetit he saved a match point and won 6-1,5-7,11-9. To finish the trifecta of super tie-breakers, Lakeman won 3-6, 6-4, 10-3. The 9-0 win on the road extends the Golden Eagle's record to 3-0.
The Golden Eagles are back on the road Friday, March 2 at 5:00 p.m., as they take on Mercyhurst University in Eerie, PA.
