CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Mountain East Conference released the 2018 football slate late last week, which features a 10-game, round robin schedule.  Pending media opportunities, the MEC may opt to shift additional games to Thursday night.
 
The highlight of Charleston's schedule is five consecutive Thursday night games to open the 2018 schedule with a rivalry game against West Virginia State University at UC Stadium on Thursday, August 30^th to start the season. UC looks to avenge the 2017 home opener loss to WVSU, 28-51, to begin UC's 16^th season since bringing football back to the Charleston campus in 2003.
 
The Golden Eagles are coming off back-to-back losing seasons after going 3-8 in 2016 and 4-6 in 2017.  Coach Pat Kirkland returns for his 8^th season as head coach of University of Charleston, holding an overall record of 45-32 over his seven seasons.
