THE GAMES
GAME 1
Golden Eagle senior starter Adam Jafine had a rough first inning against the visiting Falcons, allowing a pair of runs to fall behind 2-0 after a half of an inning played. The lefty settled in after that, blanking NDC over the final six innings on his way to his seventh career complete game. He allowed just five Falcon hits, walking one batter while striking out nine for his second win of the 2018 season.
Charleston scored six unanswered runs, five credited to NDC starter Tyler Gault (1-3) who earned the loss. Nick Wilson provided most of the punch for the Golden Eagles, driving in four runs after going 1-for-1 with a pair of sacrifice flies at the plate. Ryan Hunt continued his hot start to the 2018 season, hitting successfully on his three attempts at the plate and scoring a couple of runs to move his batting average to over .500.
GAME 2
Sophomore starter Austin Henrich picked up his first complete game of his career, tossing seven strong innings in an 8-4 come-from-behind win over Notre Dame College. The right hander notched his second win of the season, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits and picked up his only strikeout on the last out of the game. Henrich struggled with his command early as the Falcons plated four runs in the first two innings before settling in to shut down the visitors over the final five frames.
Down 4-0, Charleston scored the game's final eight runs of the afternoon. UC tied the ballgame in the fifth after Colby Johnson singled through the left side for one of his two RBI's in the game. The Golden Eagles broke the tie in four-run sixth, capped off by Colton Bauer's first career HR, a two-run shot to left field.
