CHARLESTON, W.Va.—Charleston played hard to get a much needed win over Chowan University on Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Hawks 16-9 as they had their fifth win in a season, earning a school-record for most wins in a season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles started the game with a goal by Esther Yi, less than 15 seconds into play. This however, was answered quickly by Chowan who put one in the net less than a minute later to even up the score. The Hawks scored again at the 27:02 mark to take control of the game, but this did stop the Golden Eagles from playing their game. Samantha Youngman gave Charleston life, scoring back to back goals to put UC up 3-2 with 15:52 left to play in the first half. UC's momentum didn't stop and they ended the half 8-5.
Starting the second half, UC let the game go back and forth before taking a solid lead of 12-7 with another goal by Sam Youngman with 15:50 left to play in the game. Charleston kept pushing and finished the game led by Sam Youngman who had a career high of six goals and one assist, totaling seven points. UC's Aryanna Jones also had an outstanding performance totaling five goals and one assist for a total of six points, pushin UC to a 16-9 win over Chowan University.
CHARLESTON INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
Sam Youngman led the Golden Eagles with six goals.
Emma Renda led Charleston with two total assists.
Emma Renda led UC in draw controls with 4.
CHOWAN INDIVIDUAL LEADERS
Heather Orell had five goals for the Hawks.
