CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles clinched an important win against Shepherd University on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Rams 7-2 at home.
The University of Charleston gained another win this spring season, only losing two matches against Shepherd University. UC's No. 2 doubles tandem of Ben Lakemen and Joao fell 9-7, but that did not stop the Golden Eagles from dominating the rest of the day. Charleston's No. 2 doubles duo of Alek Gracin and Jason Prince sailed past their opponents winning 8-3, and UC's No. 3 doubles followed, winning 8-2.
Charleston flew past the Rams in singles, only losing one out of the six matches of the day. Joao Tayar at the No. 2 singles spot beat his opponent 6-4, 6-0, and the rest of the Golden Eagles followed his lead, chalking up a 7-2 win for the day.
Charleston will face Shepherd University at 1:00pm on March 4
th, in Charleston, WV.
