CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles had a clean sweep over Concord University on Thursday evening, defeating the Mountain Lions 9-0, chalking up another win to their 11-6 record.
The winning frenzy for the Golden Eagles began in doubles play and followed into singles, with No. 1 doubles duo Ben Lakeman and Joao Tayar leading UC with a 9-8 (5) win. Alek Gracin and Tom Andrews at No. 2 doubles added another win to the day, defeating their opponents 8-6. Ending doubles play, Jason Prince and Elliot LePetit put a third win on the board for Charleston winning 8-2.
UC carried the wins into the singles part of the match, with all six spots showing stellar performances. At No. 1 singles, Ben Lakeman defeated his competition 6-3, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, Joao Tayar showed a similar story winning 6-3, 6-0, and at No. 3 singles Tom Andrews cruised by his opponent 6-0, 6-2. Jason prince at No. 4 singles carried on the wins for UC winning 6-2, 6-1, Elliot LePetit at No. 5 won 6-3, 6-2, and Sean Cajas at No. 6 had a 6-0, 7-6 (6) win for the Golden Eagles
