Golden Eagles Fall to Bobcats

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, WV –  The Golden Eagles fell twice on Saturday to the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats Falling 1-6 in game one followed by 4-12 in game two. The Golden Eagles will head to Glenville on Sunday with hopes of their second MEC sweep of the year.

How it Happened 
GAME 1: 
The Golden Eagles took to the board first with a homer by Haleigh Christopher in the top of the second, but that would be the only run scored by the Golden Eagles in game one.
 
The Bobcats scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning with a single by Morgan Bruce sending Gutierrez home followed by Bruce scoring on a wild pitch. Krista Wagoner hit a single to right field sending Sara Scoone home for the 3-1 lead.
 
After a scoreless fourth and fifth inning, the Bobcats scored three more runs in the top of the sixth to take game one 6-1.

GAME 2: 
The Golden Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with two RBI singles from Danielle Norton and Emily Dutton. The Bobcats answered with two more runs by Sarah Scoone and Lauren King in the bottom of the first.
 
Norton sent Julia DeSalvo home for the 3-2 lead in the top of the second, but the Bobcats took the 7-3 lead in the bottom of the second Lauren King got the offense rolling with two-RBI homer.
 
Morgan Bruce send two runs home in the bottom of the third for the 9-3 lead. Karli Pinkterton grounded out to the second baseman, but was able to send Ansley Warner home to bring the score to 9-4.
 
In the bottom of the fourth the Bobcats scored three more runs to take the 12-4 lead. The Golden Eagles were unable to score in the remaining three innings to fall 12-4 to the Bobcats.

The Golden Eagles will travel to Glenville State on Sunday April 22. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
