CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Jesse Elliot notched his first career home-run in the Golden Eagles Split with the Salem University Tigers. The Golden Eagles fell in game one 3-5, but staged a comeback in game two to win 9-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1
Third baseman, Jessie Elliot notched his first career home run in the bottom of the second inning to put the Golden Eagles on the board first. In the bottom of the third, with Gianfranco Morello on third Austin Hathaway flew out to left field sending Morello home for the 2-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth Jimmy Cramer doubled to left field sending Noah Suarez home, cutting the UC lead to 2-1 with Josh LaPrest on deck. LaPrest flew out to center field, but sent Cramer home to tie the game up at 2-2.
Shortstop Ryan Hunt singled to left field advancing on the throw and sending Elliot home to take back the 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth. Salem got the bats hot in the fifth inning, scoring three runs to take the 5-3 victroy from the Golden Eagles in game one.
GAME 2
With the game one victory under their belts, the Tigers jumped to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but a pair of sacrifice flies from Morello and Bauer with runners on brought the score to 3-2 after the first.
In the top of the third an RBI single from Dillon Champagne extended the Tiger's lead by two runs. Senior lefty Steven Davis answered with an RBI single of his own in the bottom of the third to bring the score to 4-3 in favor of the Tigers.
The fifth inning proved to be daunting for the Salem bullpen, with three pitchers seeing the mound. After scoring their fifth run of the game to maintain their two-run advantage the Tigers saw Johnson cross the plate after a SAC fly to center field from Davis, bringing the score to 5-4.
Five RBI singles in the bottom of the fifth sent the Golden Eagles to a 9-5 victory in game two against the Tigers.

Charleston travels to Athens this weekend for a four-game series against the Mountain Lions. First pitch is set for Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
