CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston's Adam Jafine and Anthony Zona each tossed complete-game wins for the Golden Eagles on Thursday afternoon, sweeping West Virginia Wesleyan by scores of 11-0 and 9-2 for their ninth and tenth MEC victories.

THE GAMES
GAME 1
Adam Jafine threw a two-hit shutout of the Bobcats to start Thursday afternoon's MEC doubleheader, at one point retiring 16 consecutive WVWC batters. Charleston blew the game wide open with a nine-run, 10-hit third inning where the Golden Eagles sent 14 batters to the plate. With the 9-0 cushion, Jafine cruised in his seven-inning complete game, the eighth of his career, to pick up his fourth win of 2018. Charleston got multi-hit games from Ryan Hunt, Gianfranco Morello, and Hayden Cartt as the Golden Eagles pounded out 13 hits in six innings against Bobcat pitching.
GAME 2
The second game of Thursday's doubleheader was played a bit closer in the early innings, tied at 2-2 going to the Charleston half of the fifth. Another big inning from the Golden Eagles, scoring five in the fifth, proved to be the difference in the sweep of WVWC. UC got RBI's from Hunt, Colby Johnson, Morello and Brice Arrington to put Charleston on top 7-2 with a pair of innings remaining. Game two starter Anthony Zona was solid in his first starting role of 2018, limiting the Bobcats to two runs on eight hits in his complete-game victory, his second of the season. Hayden Cartt had his second straight multi-hit game while Steven Davis also added a pair of hits.
