How It Happened
MATCH 1
The Golden Eagles started their first match of the year off slow, losing in three sets to the USML Tritons. USML took the first set 25-12, taking control of the match early on. USML kept playing strong against the Golden Eagles, winning the second two 25-12, and 25-15.
MATCH 2
Eckerd College took the match from UC in three sets, cruising through each set to defeat the Golden Eagles 3-0. In the first set, Eckerd College won 25-18, 25-16 in the second set, and a close 25-23 in the last set of the game.
MATCH 3
The Golden Eagles gave the Griffins from Seton Hill a good match, falling 3-1 to SHU. Seton Hill took the first set 25-14, however, UC fired back winning the second set 25-15. The Griffins came back strong, winning the next two sets 25-16, and 25-28.
MATCH 4
UC gave nationally ranked No. 24 Augustana University an interesting match, winning the first set 25-22. Augustana then won the next three sets, taking the Golden Eagles down 3-1.
UP NEXT
Charleston will host day two the MEC/PSAC Crossover Tournament all day Saturday in the Wehrle Athletic Arena, starting at 10:00 a.m on August 31. The Golden Eagles face Kutztown at 10:00 a.m. followed by Shippensburg University at 7:00 p.m.
