CHARLESTON, W.VA. –Charleston added a win to their 2019 schedule on Friday night, defeating the visiting Twisters from King University 3-1 (25-16, 25-21, 25-27, 25-22).

How It Happened
The first set of play was all Charleston, as they came out strong and energized against the visiting Twisters from King University. Sophomore Max Senica started Charleston's scoring frenzy with a kill from redshirt freshman Chase Johnson. The Golden Eagles continued to surpass the Twisters, finishing the set 25-16. Charleston's Senica gave the team five kills, while junior Adriel Roberts and Johnson each had three block assists.
King started the second set of the day with a change of pace, as they fought to keep up with the Golden Eagles. However, UC kept up with the momentum of theTwisters, as they went point for point throughout the duration of the set. The Golden Eagles were able to work past the visitors, with a service ace from Senica to end the set 25-21, leading 2-0. UC's sophomore Maarten Bartels led UC with eight kills, and Johnson contributed 14 assists.
The fourth set of play was all King, as they battled past the Golden Eagles to win a set, putting the match at 3-1. UC's Bartel led the Golden Eagles with six kills.
The last set of play was similar to the second set, as each team battled for a result: Charleston battling to end the game, and King trying to gain another set. The Golden Eagles were able to find the fire to slowly move past the visiting Twisters, winning the set 25-22, and the match 4-1. Charleston's Senica led the game in digs with 10.
