How It Happened
The Golden Eagles fell in three sets on Friday night, after the Patriots from George Mason University defeated them. Charleston's Maarten Bartels had the first kill of the set for UC, as Charleston stayed close to the Patriots. The first set continued to stay fairly even between the two sides for the first 19 points, but slowly George Mason began to pull away, defeating UC 25-19.

The second set of play was a similar story for the Golden Eagles, as GMU pulled away after the 22ndpoint. The sides went back and forth until they were tied at 16-16, but the Golden Eagles could not keep up with the energy of the Patriots, losing the set 25-18.

Charleston was not able to regain momentum heading into the last set of the day, fighting against GMU to win a set. The Golden Eagles, however, were unsuccessful, as the Patriots gradually increased the gap in score between the two sides. UC fell in the final set 25-18, and 3-0 on the day.
