CHARLESTON, W. VA. – Coming off of a 10-day off period, the Golden Eagles will be back at home against the Blue Knights from Urbana University on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6:00 p.m.
Urbana comes into the match with an overall record of 12-9 overall and a MEC record of 8-1 with their only MEC loss of the year coming against Wheeling who sits in first place in the conference, while the Blue Knights hold possession of second place. Urbana has won eight of their previous ten matches leading up to this game.
Coming off of an extended break, UC will be fresh bodied and full of energy. The Golden Eagles will look to get back into the win column as they have dropped their previous two matches. As history would have it, Charleston has a better record over the Blue Knights in head-to-dead matches. UC is 7-4 against Urbana with their most recent win against the Blue Knights coming in the MEC tournament just a year ago. UC currently sits in eighth place in the MEC standings with an 8-16 record overall and a 3-5 record in conference play.
UC will need continued production from freshman Jaxin Melby, sophomore Brianna Washburn and senior Janeese VerVelde to come out on top. Also, eyes will be on senior Kelsey Matusic as she currently sits at 1,966 digs in her career. She only needs 34 more to reach the 2,000 career dig milestone.
Following Friday's game, UC will be back home again on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 2:00 p.m. as they take on Notre Dame College.
