CHARLESTON, W. Va. – UC was back at home tonight as they took on the Blue Knights from Urbana University, Charleston was not able to come out with the home win as they dropped the match 3-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
In the first set, the Golden Eagles battled the Blue Knights well. They recorded seven kills along with one ace and one block. Urbana was able to put together 10 kills accompanied by seven attacking errors. Offensively, both teams could not seem to put a whole lot together with many of the points coming from attacking and service errors. The Blue Knights ultimately took the first set win by a score of 25-20.
The second set was some more back and forth play for both the Golden Eagles and the Blue Knights. Charleston was able to put together 12 kills with a .154 hitting percentage along with two blocks. Urbana tallied 15 kills with a .225 hitting percentage. With some even play from both offenses, it made for a very close set. The Blue Knights were able to hold on for the win as they took the set 25-22.
UC came back in the third set, they rallied together to put together nine kills with only two attacking errors. They also posted a .333 hitting percentage on their way to a 25-22 set win to make the game 2-1 Urbana heading into the fourth set.
Urbana took control in the fourth set, they put together 19 kills posting a .367 hitting percentage to back it up while only allowing one attacking error. Charleston was able to tally 16 kills with a .261 hitting percentage. That proved to be not enough as the Blue Knights went on to take the set, and with it the match as they won the set 25-21.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES:
Freshman Beyonce Andrews, sophomore Rachel Phalen and senior Sydney Burt all contributed 10 kills for the Golden Eagles. Senior Kelsey Matusic racked up 24 digs, which moves put her nine digs short of the 2,000 career digs mark.
