CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The Golden Eagles fell this afternoon 3-1 as they took on the Falcons from Notre Dame College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The first set was very competitive with a lot of blows being exchanged by both teams. Charleston was able to put together 14 kills and post a .200 hitting percentage to go along with it. Notre Dame had 16 kills with a .282 hitting percentage. With the numbers being as close as they were, the score reflected the same as Notre Dame went on to win the set 25-22.
The Falcons gained some momentum in the second set as they went on for 15 kills and a .379 hitting percentage along with four service aces and two blocks. Charleston managed to get 10 kills with a .280 hitting percentage. UC was not able to get a whole lot going offensively and it resulted in a dropped set as Notre Dame went on to win it 25-17.
UC did not give in in the third set, as they went on to put together 12 kills with a .189 hitting percentage while Notre Dame had 11 kills and a .103 hitting percentage. The Falcons also had seven attacking errors and four service errors. That opened the door for the Golden Eagles. UC took advantage as they went on to win the set 25-21.
Charleston could not keep it up in the fourth set. Notre Dame came out firing putting up 17 kills with a .533 hitting percentage. The Golden Eagles could only manage to put together five kills and had a - .091 hitting percentage. Ultimately, UC was unable to push the game into a fifth set as they fell 25-11 to close out the match.

Kelsey Matusic reached a career milestone of 2,000 career digs putting her amongst a handful of other players in the past at Charleston with that number of digs.
