Cardinals Down the Golden Eagles 3-0 In Wheeling

WHEELING, W. Va. – The Golden Eagles traveled to Wheeling this evening to take on the Cardinals, Wheeling came out on top 3-0. 
 
JUST THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED 
Wheeling came out ready to play in the first set. They had 15 kills in the set as well as posting a .433 hitting percentage and only committed two attacking errors. Charleston had nine kills along with a .156 hitting percentage with four attacking errors. Wheeling's offensive numbers paint a good picture of the score of the set as the Cardinals took it 25-13. 
 
UC was not able to turn the offensive numbers around in the second set. They were able to post 10 kills, but also had nine attacking errors and posted a .028 hitting percentage. Wheeling had 11 kills in the set with a .321 hitting percentage only committing two attacking errors. The Cardinals went on to take the set 25-13. 
 
The Golden Eagles showed some life in the third set as they were able to post their best offensive numbers of the night. They had 14 kills with a .237 hitting percentage. Wheeling had only 10 kills with a .296 hitting percentage but were able to hold on and take the third and final set of the night by a score of 25-18.
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Freshman Jaxin Melby lead the team in kills as she tallied eight on the night, sophomore Erin Thomas had 33 assists and freshman Beyonce Andrews, sophomore Brianna Washburn and senior Sydney Burt all had two blocks each on the night. 
 
UP NEXT
Charleston will be back in action this weekend with two games on deck both on the road. UC will travel to Concord University on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7:00 p.m. and to Glenville State College on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1:00 p.m.
