ATHENS, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles Men's Basketball team (4-1, 0-1 MEC) dropped an 86-78 decision on the road this afternoon to the Mountain Lions of Concord University. The Mountain Lions (3-3, 1-0 MEC) used a 15-point first half lead while shooting just under 60% from the field in the opening frame to defeat the Golden Eagles in their MEC opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game played back and forth through the first seven minutes of the contest with Charleston holding a 15-14 lead with 13:32 remaining in the opening half before Concord would go on a 11-4 run over the next four minutes of play to take a 25-19 lead. The remainder of the first half played nearly even, with the Mountain Lions taking a 46-34 lead into the break.
The Golden Eagles struggled from behind the arc in the first half, converting on just one of their nine attempts (11.1%) while Concord, who shot the ball from three a total of just seven times in the opening half, converted on three (42.9%).
Charleston outscored the Mountain Lions by four points in the second half while converting four of their 10 three-point attempts, but the 12-point first half deficit was too much to overcome as Concord moved to 1-0 in MEC play with an 86-78 defeat over the Golden Eagles.
For the game, the Mountain Lions converted 22-of-26 attempts from the charity stripe while grabbing nine steals compared to Charleston's four during the contest. Charleston's
Devon Robinson would finish the game with a double-double.
