ATHENS, W. Va. – The Golden Eagle's traveled to Athens, W. Va. To take on the Mountain Lions of Concord, UC came out with the win 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Charleston battled Concord well in the first set. The Golden Eagles were able to get off 13 kills, allowed only one attacking error and posted a .387 hitting percentage. They also played great on defense as they were able to record seven blocks. Concord had 14 kills along with a .176 hitting percentage. Attacking errors is what ended up hurting the Mountain Lions in the end as they racked up eight of them. UC took advantage and went on to win the set by a score of 25-19.
UC kept rolling in the second set. They added 13 more kills, a .200 hitting percentage and had two more blocks as well. Concord continued their struggles on offense. They had 11 kills and could only manage to put together a .024 hitting percentage. They had 10 attacking errors as well, allowing UC to stay up on the Mountain Lions and eventually win the set 25-22.
Concord turned it around in the third set. They had 16 kills, a .256 hitting percentage and brought their attacking errors down to five for the set. UC was able to get off 15 kills and recorded a .268 hitting percentage. Concord went on to take the set 25-22.
UC was not able to put the game away in the fourth set. They had 11 kills, a .088 hitting percentage and three serving aces. They had eight attacking errors in the set as well. Concord was able to post 11 kills, a .269 hitting percentage, only three attacking errors and six blocks. Ultimately that proved to be enough for the Mountain Lions to take the set as they went on to win it 20-25.
In the fifth set, Charleston was able to get off 10 kills, a .386 hitting percentage and two blocks as well. Concord could only manage to put up six kills with a .143 hitting percentage. UC was able to hold on for the set win 15-10 and took the match 3-2.
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

Brianna Washburn was able to help the team by providing 15 kills on the night as well as three blocks and three digs. Senior
Sydney Burt contributed 12 kills, nine digs and two assists. Sophomore
Rachel Phalen had 12 kills. Senior
Kelsey Matusic was able to record 24 digs, four aces and five assists in the 3-2 win over Concord.
