LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – University of Charleston ran to their second consecutive NCAA DII Atlantic Region Men's Cross Country title Saturday morning, crushing the field by 21 points to secure their spot in the NCAA DII Cross Country National Championship later this month. Â

Charleston finished the event with a total of 66 points behind Jack Mastandrea's first place individual finish to become UC's first ever Atlantic Region individual champion in program history.  The senior cruised to a 30-second win over the second-place finisher, completing the 10k course in 31:06.  Junior Kyle Hinson turned in a top-5 result, finishing 4
th overall with a time of 31:44.  Charleston placed four runners in the top-15 with Alex Kitony (32:09) placing 10
th followed by senior David Cecchi (32:13) in 12
th individually.  All four of these Golden Eagles earned All-Region honors as a result of their finish Saturday.

By capturing the Atlantic Region title, Charleston will run at the NCAA DII Cross Country Championships in Sacramento, California on November 23.  In their first appearance at nationals in 2018 UC ran to a 22
ndplace finish among the 34-team field.  Coach Bias is looking for an even better performance from this Golden Eagle squad and set a preseason goal of finishing top-15 at this year's national championship.  Joining Charleston in Sacramento from the Atlantic Region will be Edinboro (2nd) and fellow MEC representative Davis & Elkins (3rd).
