UC Baseball 2020 Schedule Release

CHARLESTON, W. Va.—The University of Charleston Golden Eagles baseball team is about two months away from getting started with their 2020 regular season. With first-year head coach Robbie Britt at the helm of the team, UC will look to carry some momentum over from their 41-19 finish in 2019 where they were one win away from making it to the NCAA DII College World Series.

As for their 2020 campaign, the Golden Eagles will open up their season on the road on February 14, against Wingate University in Wingate, NC.

Following the three-game series, UC will travel back to Charleston to host Ashland University where they will play their first games on their new field at the Welch Athletics Complex (WAC). Ashland will be a lofty opponent as they posted a 48-15 record last season, making it to the NCAA DII CWS where they went 1-2 in that tournament.

The Golden Eagles will continue their non-conference portion of their schedule the following two weekends with two Atlantic Region opponents. They will play a three-game series against the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on Saturday, Feb. 29 and a four-game series against Shippensburg University starting on Friday, Mar. 6.

On March 10, the Golden Eagles will travel out to Vienna, WV to play Ohio Valley University in a mid-week matchup.

UC will have their conference kickoff dinner on Friday, Mar. 13 and will open up conference play on Saturday, Mar. 14 at home as they will take on Urbana University in a doubleheader.

The following day, the Golden Eagles will have a rematch of the 2019 MEC tournament championship game as UC will host Notre Dame in a doubleheader. In their last matchup, the Golden Eagles took the MEC title as they slid by the Falcons by a score of 9-8.

On Tuesday, March 17 Alderson Broaddus University heads to town for a mid-week game.

Region Champs

After their long spurt of home matchups, UC will then head back out on the road starting on Saturday, March 21 as they travel to Maryland to take on Frostburg State University who is brand new to the MEC this year. UC will then head to Fairmont State the following day for a double-header against the Falcons.

UC then will head out to Wise, VA for a mid-week matchup against the University of Virginia's College at Wise.

The Golden Eagles will then be back at home the following weekend as Wheeling University comes to town for a double-header on Saturday, March 28 and West Liberty for a doubleheader on Sunday, March 29.

UC will kick off the month of April with two double-headers scheduled at home against West Virginia Wesleyan. The Bobcats will be in town on Saturday, April 4 and Sunday, April 5.

The following Tuesday, the University of Virginia's College at Wise will head down for a mid-week game at the WAC on Tuesday, Apr. 7.

On Friday, Apr. 10, UC will hit the road as they will take on Davis & Elkins College with two double-headers scheduled for Friday, Apr. 10 and Saturday, Apr. 11.

The Golden Eagles then travel out to Philippi, WV on Tuesday, Apr. 14 for a mid-week game against Alderson Broaddus University.

UC heads back home that weekend as they take on Glenville State College in two double-headers as they play on April 18 and 19.

UC wraps up the season in their final two weekends with some interesting matchups. UC will have to travel to Athens, WV to take on Concord with double-headers against the Mountain Lions on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26. Concord finished last season with a record of 33-17 with a home record of 17-4. This looks to be a tough test for the Golden Eagles as they will be getting ready to wrap up their season.

Charleston will close out their 2020 regular season with a home matchup against rival West Virginia State University. The Yellow Jackets will come out to the WAC for a doubleheader on Friday, May 1. UC will then have to close out the last day of their regular season on the road as they will travel to Institute to play the Yellow Jackets in a Double Header on Sunday, May 3.

With a strong schedule ahead of them this year, the Golden Eagles will look to build off of what they did last year in their 2019 campaign.
