Box Score 2 MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles (1-2) went 0-2 in on the road against the University of Mount Olive (8-6). Charleston fell 0-4 in game one followed by 1-9 loss in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Karli Pinkerton and Kendall Marshall led the Golden Eagles each nabbing one hit on the day, but the Golden Eagles were unable to get their bats going and were unable to score in game two of the 2019 season.
Freshman Carly Turner picked up her first loss of the season, pitching five innings, and striking out six batters.
Neither team was able to score until Mount Olive got their offense rolling in the bottom of the fourth inning. With two runners on, Eileen Barrera homered to left field to bring the score to 3-0, sending Mikayla Koch, and Cassandra Lassiter home for UMO.
After advancing to third, Amber Elliot scored after Heather Childress reached on an error by the UC third baseman.
Charleston would fall in game one, 0-4.
GAME 2:
The Golden Eagles went 4-for-20 from the plate scoring one run in the top of the fourth. Mickaela Brown picked up her first loss of the year seeing 16 batters, totaling seven hits, six runs, and one walk for the senior.
The Trojans struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Callie Ferrell tripled to right field bringing Charlene Thompson home. Ferrell then scored on a wild pitch on during the next at bat.
H. Burress hit a single to left field allowing Eileen Barrera to score making it 3-0 for Mount Olive. Alexis Oliver scored when Madison Morgan reached on a fielder's choice, as the Golden Eagles were unable to swing a double play from second.
Mount Olive extended its lead in the bottom of the third when Madison Morgan doubled to center field pushing Koch and Barrera home making the score 6-0 in favor of the Trojans.
The Golden Eagles scored their lone run in the top of the fourth with a double by Haleigh Christopher to left field pushing Pinkerton home.
The Trojans duo of Lassiter and Morgan contributed three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to bring the score to 9-1 and end the game for the Golden Eagles.
NEXT UP
Charleston will play host to Mercyhurst University and Bloomsburg University in a round-robin tournament on Saturday, February 23. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
