BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- The University of Charleston's Ben Lakeman has been named Mountain East Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced today.

Lakeman, a junior from Penzance Cornwall, England, helped guide the Golden Eagles to a 5-2 victory over Bluefield College last weekend picking up wins at No. 1 doubles and singles. Lakeman and Joao Tayar paired up to cruise to a 6-2 win over the Rams in doubles before he rallied from a set down in singles to capture a hard fought victory at No. 1 singles, (4-6, 6-2, 6-0). The Golden Eagles are off to a 2-0 start this spring.
