CHARLESTON, W.VA. –The Golden Eagles defeated Harvard University 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-21), beating the Crimson for the first time in program history.

How It Happened
The first set of play between the Golden Eagles and the visiting Crimson started off evenly, as both teams battled to take the first set. The set went back and forth, until Harvard began to pull away after their 14
thpoint. Charleston tried to make up the gap between the two teams, but were unsuccessful, falling 25-19. UC totaled eight kills compared to Harvard's seven, and had 23 total attacks. The Golden Eagles four blocks total in the first set, and seven attack errors. Lachlan Bray led UC with two kills, while Diego Villafane gave six assists.
Heading into set two of the match, Charleston came out with energy, forcing Harvard's defense to work hard. UC and Harvard went point for point, but a kill from Ian Barker pushed UC to a 21-18 lead, giving Charleston momentum to try and take the set from the Crimson. The Golden Eagles continued to work the ball offensively, winning the set 25-20, and tying the match at 1-1. Charleston only totaled one attack error, while the visitors had five.
Set three was full of intensity between the two teams, as both of them wanted to snag a second set, and push themselves ahead. Charleston was able to lift themselves past the visitors, winning the set 26-24.
The fourth set was all Charleston, as they continued to score against Harvard, running the score up to 13-5. UC continued to defend the attacks from the Crimson, with a kill from Adriel Roberts setting the tone and putting Charleston up 21-15. The Golden Eagles continued to inch forward, winning the set 25-21, and the match 3-1. This was Charleston's first win over Harvard in program history.
