MONTEVALLO, ALA.—The Golden Eagles defeated the University of Montevallo on the first Spring Break Game, outworking the hosts to win 9-7.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Samantha Youngman opened up the scoring for the Golden Eagles, using a free position shot to put UC up 1-0, less than three minutes into the game. Less than two minutes later, Aryanna Jones gave Charleston a 2-0 advantage, working past Montevallo defenders. With 17:45 left in the first half, the Falcons snuck one in, but Brianna Rock answered back with a goal, putting UC up 3-1 with 17:03 until half time.
Montevallo began to close the gap after scoring another goal, making the score 3-2 with 13:16 left to play in the first half. Charleston's Esther Yi gave the Golden Eagles a 4-2 lead, after scoring off of a free position shot. The Falcons were able to put one more into the net before UC's Peyton Harris scored, giving UC a 5-3 lead heading into the second half.
The Falcons started the second half of play with a goal, giving UC a 5-4 lead with 28:48 left to play. Emma Renda's free position shot with 22:56 left in the game was successful, making the score 6-4. Two more goals from the hosts put the score even at 6-6 with 20:28 remaining, but Jones used her offensive skill to move past the Falcon defense, giving UC a 7-6 lead. Two more goals from Harris and Rock secured the win for Charleston, giving them a 9-7 win on the day.
