CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles (5-8) fell on the road to Winston Salem State (15-7) in their last game before beginning their conference schedule.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Brandon Harris started on the mound for the Golden Eagles, pitching five innings and allowing two runs. Seth Nightingale took the loss after allowing four runs in 0.2 innings pitch.
Cole Parks reached on a fielder's choice allowing Nick Williams to score giving the Rams and early 1-0 lead. In the top of the second the Golden Eagles answered on a SAC fly from Derrick Dudek sending Sam McKown home bringing the score to 1-1.
The Golden Eagles tacked on tacked on two more runs in the top of the third as Colby Johnson scored on a wild pitch before Brice Arrington scored on Jesse Elliot's single. Winston Salem state scored their second run in the bottom of the fourth
Salem answered with a five-run inning in the bottom of the third to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
Charleston scored its fourth run in the top of the fifth on after Jack Brunetti singled and advanced home. Winston Salem had a big inning from the plate in the bottom of the sixth scoring four runs to take the 6-4 lead over UC
Colby Johnson hit a homerun in the top of the seventh to bring UC within one run one run of the Rams, but it would not be enough to top the Rams as the Golden Eagles fell 6-5.
UP NEXT
The Golden Eagles will travel to Urbana, Ohio on Saturday to take on the Blue Knights in their first conference matchup of the 2019 season.
