CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles (6-8) started of 2-0 in MEC play with a sweep of the Urbana Blue Knights on Saturday. Charleston took a 10-1 win in game one, and squeaked by on a 3-2 victory in game two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE:
Austin Henrich moved to 2-2 on the season picking up the victory for the Golden Eagles. Charleston struck first on a single by Hayden Cartt in the top of the first inning, before UC would take a 4-run advantage scoring three in the top of the third.
In the top of the fifth senior outfielder, Brice Arrington homered to right field. Jordan Bailey followed suit hitting a homerun bringing the score to 6-0 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
Charleston mounted a 7-0 lead before Taylor Lane pushed Robbie Guerrero home for Urbana in the bottom of the sixth.
Charleston sealed the victory on three runs in the top of the seventh on a single from Colby Johnson. Brunetti grounded out to the third basemen with one out on the board allowing Johnson to score, followed by an error by the catcher allowing Morello to pick up the tenth run for UC.
Colby Johnson led UC from the plate going 3-for-4, and three runs and one RBI.
GAME TWO:
The Blue Knights took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a double from Guerrero, followed a single to left field from Tyler Dellerman.
UC put its first run on the board was Jordan Bailey scored on a double by Austin Hathaway.
The Golden Eagles tied the game up in the top of the sixth on a homer by Gianfranco Morello. UC took the 3-2 win as Nick Wilson hit a SAC fly to centerfield allowing Hayden Cartt to cross the plate.
Brandon Harris picked up the win for the Golden Eagles. He is now 1-2 on the year.
UP NEXT
The Golden Eagles will head to South Euclid, Ohio to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Falcons in a double header set to begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday.
