CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles (10-9, 5-1 MEC) split with the Shepherd Rams (14-8, 5-1 MEC) ending Shepherds regular season 12-game win streak over the Golden Eagles. Jack Brunetti's walk of single in the bottom of the eight lifted UC over the Rams. Brandon Harris pitched a complete game in game two picking up his second win of the season. Charleston started the game off retiring the Jersey of the legendary head coach and UC Athletic Director, Tom Nozica.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Taylor Itnyre picked up the loss as UC fell in game one 15-8.
After the first inning the two teams were tied 1-1, and stayed that way until the top of the third inning,
Syeed Mahdi of the Rams singled to left field allowing Eddie Nottingham to score, and an error from UC game Justin Smith the go-ahead to take the 3-1 lead. The Rams tacked on a pair of runs in the top of the fourth taking the 6-1 lead over UC.
In the bottom of the fifth Drew Hefner reached home as Austin Hathaway reached on a fielder's choice. Shepherd answered in the top of the sixth scoring two runs, but the Golden Eagles answered in the bottom of the sixth with a three-run homer to right field for Jordan Bailey, that cut the lead to just three runs.
Austin Hathaway scored on a single from Gianfranco Morello to bring the score to 8-6, followed by a two-RBI single from Jack Brunetti that tied the game up 8-8.
The Rams answered with seven runs in the top of the seventh, and UC was unable to answer, falling to the Rams in game one.
GAME 2:
Shepherd took an early lead in the top of the first on a single by Christian Hamel, but UC tied it up in the top of the third on Austin Hathaway's homerun to right field.
Locked in with one run each the Shepherd Rams took a two-run lead in the top of the fourth on a two-RBI homer from Mahdi.
The middle of the order remained strong for the Golden Eagles in game two, as Jack Brunetti pushed Colby Johnson home on a single to center field in the bottom of the sixth. With Morello on third, Brice Arrington hit a sacrifice bunt giving Morello the go ahead for the tying run.
The Rams were unable to answer in the top of the seventh forcing an extra inning. After three quick outs for UC in the top of the eighth, the Golden Eagles had one more chance to score in the bottom of the eighth.
In the bottom of the eighth Morello was walked. The senior then stole second, and advanced to third on the throw, putting UC in scoring position with two outs. Jack Brunetti hit a walk-off single to left field allowing Morello to score for UC.
Brandon Harris picked up his second win of the season. The senior pitched a complete game, throwing 106 pitches in eight innings, facing 32 batters, striking out 22. Harris led the Golden Eagles to their first regular season victory over the Rams since 2014.

The Golden Eagles will host the Fairmont State Falcons on Sunday. The double header is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
