CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles (16-10, 10-2 MEC) swept the West Liberty Hilltoppers (4-20, 0-12 MEC) in MEC play on Monday, Improving to 10-2 in MEC play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Jordan Bailey led the Golden Eagles from the plate in game one, going 2-for-5, with one run, and one RBI. Jacob Kaiser improved to 3-1 on the season, pitching the complete game and retiring 21 of 28 batters.
Charleston boasted a 5-0 lead until the bottom of the second when T. Ramsay singled to centerfield to push WLU's first run of the game home.
The Golden Eagles tacked on three more runs in the top of the third bringing the score to 8-2. West Liberty scored their second and final run of the game in the bottom of the third, but Hathaway, Johnson, Morello, and Arrington would all score to give the Golden Eagles the 12-2 victory in game one.
GAME 2:
Jack Brunetti picked up the victory in game two pitching six innings before Jordan Peck came in for the save in the top of the seventh.
Morello led the Golden Eagles in game two, going 3-for-4, scoring two runs.
By the bottom of the second inning the Golden Eagles once again had a 5-0 lead on the Hilltoppers, capitalizing on errors by the Hilltoppers infield. After two scoreless innings, the Golden Eagles scored runs six, and seven on the speed of Morello, who stole third, followed by a score on an error by the catcher, and Brunetti scoring on a fielders' choice.
C. Eckstein hit a two-RBI homer in the bottom of the fifth to get on the board. The Hilltoppers scored two additional runs in the bottom of the sixth to make the final score 7-4 in favor of the Golden Eagles.
NEXT UP
The Golden Eagles will head to West Virginia Wesleyan for a four-game series on April 6-7.
